Bachelor’s Degree

Digital Arts specialisation in Video Games

This practice-based course has been designed in collaboration with IUDAV, whose successful project in setting up Italy’s first Bachelor’s degree in Animation and Video Games serves as EnterAcademy’s model, to train aspiring professionals in the two sectors. It intends to provide students with a complete preparation for the Digital Animation and Games industries, allowing them to compete successfully on the national and international market.

The course, offering a highly vocational educational programme, features both theoretical and practical activities, like workshops, master classes and cultural events. A team of lecturers made up of academics and practitioners with plenty of experience in the industry will guide students to acquire the technical knowledge and cultural background needed to work in one of the professions associated with the two sectors. Students will acquire the skillset to use a whole range of software applications, like Zbrush, Maya, 3DS Max, Unity3D, Storyboard Pro, Flash, After Effects, Photoshop, and others.

They will also develop the critical thinking and cultural knowledge necessary to meet the high demands of the ever changing and fast moving digital industry. The learning experience is complemented by internships offered through partnership agreements signed with leading companies in the industry, as well as by a series of projects to develop entertainment products, published and distributed on their respective channels, and aimed at enriching the students’ curriculum vitae. Upon completion of the course, besides having mastered cutting edge industry software and tools, students would have developed a portfolio/showreel for 3D and 2D animation products, as well as games and apps for various devices and platforms.

Requirements:

Maltese applicants are to be in possession of the Matriculation Certificate (comprising six subjects), including a pass (grade 5 or higher) in the Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) examination in English Language and at least a grade 3 in Mathematics, or equivalent qualifications. Non-Maltese applicants are to be in possession of qualifications which the Admissions Board deems to be comparable to those required of Maltese students. Applications submitted either by mature students (over twenty-one years of age) or by those having practical experience in one of the two sectors of the degree course may also be considered. In these cases, applicants are required to attend an interview with the Admissions Board.
